The National Gay Task Force reports that syndicated Radio News Commentator Paul Harvey made the following comments on his April 15 show: "That misleader of Boy Scouts in New Orleans who recruited boys to satisfy his own weird sex appetite-guilty, 11 counts... Raymond Woodall could be sentenced to prison for 165 years... The word "homosexual" is misused in this case. Without taking sides in the several squabbles now raging relating to this subject, we of the media need properly reflect the fact that the waylaying of small boys, and the bestiality in prisons and such, is sodomy. It is heterosexual, not homosexual. To males who prefer males the difference is as significant as the difference between love and rape."

Syracuse, N.Y.'s Gay Light reports Roman Catholic Archbishop John Roach of St. Paul, Minn., was hit in the face with a chocolate cream pie thrown by a gay rights activist at a dinner of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. The pie thrower, Patrick Schwartz, said after the incident, he threw the pie because he "believed Roach was being hypocritical in accepting the conference's National Brotherhood award." argue, for a moment against Ms. Bryant's right to speak. I do argue with both the premise and conclusions of her argument."."

From The Body Politic: The city council of Windsor, Canada (across the border from Detroit) passed a resolution March 14 prohibiting discrimination against city employees on the basis of sexual orientation. The resolution carried by a narrow margin of 4-3....

GCN reports that by a vote of 12-11, the New Hampshire Senate has passed a bill that makes 'lewd and licentious" public behavior by homosexuals crime. The legislation (SB 87) specifies the following public places: schools, apartment house lobbies, restaurants and government owned and recreational facilities. Senator Bradley told GCN the bill is designed "to stamp out homosexuality." Bradley maintains the bill is not only vague "but probably unconstitutional." The bill is now in the New Hampshire House....

first battle in their efforts to bring Scottish law into line with English law, making homosexuality legal between consenting adults in private. By a surprising vote of 125-7 the House of Lords voted in favor of reforming the anti-gay laws. The referendum decision, however, is only a first step and the bill must pass through all its stages in the Lords and then pass through the Commons before it finally reaches the Statute Books....

From Gay Community News (GCN): Elaine Noble, Boston legislative representative and open lesbian, has turned down. three high Washington positions within ACTION the federal agency that includes both the Peace Corps and VISTA, the domestic peace corps. The ACTION domestic operations post was a $48,600 a year position and would require Senate confirmation. After Noble's refusal, the post was given to John Lewis, a black civil rights leader. In an interview with GCN Rep. Noble said that taking the ACTION post would have meant "starting all over again. It would be 5-8 years of orchestrating the same programs that I'm in the middle of here. I just had to consider what I wanted to do with a chunk of eight years of my life in my middle thirties. Going to Washington was not something I wanted to do."

The Rev. Edward C. Peterson is offering sex counseling for gay people as well as singles and married couples in his newly established Dayton Sex Forum. Rev. Peterson has taken a year's leave of absence from his post as pastor of Christ Church United Methodist in the Dayton suburb of Kettering to provide the service.
